The following is out outline of the program that we are calling The Leadership Journey. The basic program can be adapted and customized to meet specific needs.
The objective of this module is to develop common language and understanding of what we believe leadership today is. What are the skills and attitudes required to provide effective leadership?
Using an assessment instrument the participants will explore their current leadership skills.
The objective of this module is to develop an understanding of real community
and how it might be developed. Whether this is a workplace or some other
form of community the creation of a safe, respectful environment where people
can come together will determine the effectiveness of the accomplishments.
" Leadership happens in community, so it is important to develop an
understanding of what that requires.
The objective is to develop an understanding of what transformation is
and provide an opportunity to explore the process for individuals as well
as community.
" This module will draw on our experience and the work of William Bridges
and the Alban Institute.
The objective of this module is to understand the critical importance of
vision to leadership.
" We will provide an opportunity for individual participants to identify
their vision.
" We will explore the process of identifying or discerning the vision
of a community.
This module will develop an understanding of the importance of authenticity
to leadership today.
" We will use role plays or case studies that reveal authenticity,
and explore how to discipline this way of being.
This module will explore the contribution of passion to the energy and ability
of a leader to truly lead.
The objective of this module will be to explore communication skills, and
identify ways to communicate better.
" Working to understand today's technology and how to put it into practice
when developing community will be part of this module.
" Understanding who you are trying to communicate with and what modes
might be most effective will be explored.
Developing a plan to improve leadership practices is the objective of this
module.
" Ongoing learning circles, coaching and mentoring will provide an
opportunity for participants to continue to learn about how to put skills
into practice.
