We see a number of components to this program. All of the programs would
be delivered using a 'circles' format, which we believe provides the best
possible opportunity for building community.
Our belief in the importance of creating places where people can feel they belong requires that we provide an opportunity for community to develop among the participants by creating a model that they can adapt. We will begin by creating a meaningful centre and using our RooTS structure to develop a model of what it means to work in a circle. In order to create a safe, learning environment where real learning and growth can occur we have to experience what it means to be in real community with one another.
The Leadership Journey - the Core Course
We see an intensive course as a way of doing all three aspects of this
program: exploring, learning and practicing. This may be delivered over
several weekends, two week-long sessions, or one day a week for several
weeks. Our other work will utilize modules or pieces of this overall program
as a way of introduction.
Newsletter
We see renaming our newsletter Leadership Ventures with a new format to indicate a new focus for our ministry.
Coaching
As part of the 'practice' component of the program we will provide coaching to participants.
Team Building
Even a circle of two can provide a structure for learning how to work effectively together.
Customized Program
We will work with you to provide the support and resources you need to achieve your goals.
We would use several different ways of 'marketing' our overall program.
One Evening Events
We will offer 3 hour events that focus on leadership skills and share them with boards, vestries or others so they can develop their leadership.
Worship
We will offer to conduct worship experiences centred on the theme of God's call to each of us to fully develop the leadership skills that lie within us.
Learning Circles
Our telephone-conference and face-to-face learning circles sponsored by the national United Church are another vehicle in which people can explore their leadership gifts, put those into practice and get feedback from their peers.
Theme Speakers
At Conference or Presbytery, or other meeting times, we will offer to speak from the theme of leadership drawing on whatever modules from our overall program seem appropriate.
