Circles as Living Community
A
group of us will gather this August at a lodge 20 km north of the town of
Athabasca to explore how to use circles as centres of living community.
Set in 80 acres of woods, the word "living" takes on a special meaning. The trees are alive and the forest floor full of wonders. What we know is that anything living:
* has a centre,
* is open to new growth,
* needs to be nurtured,
* is curious, and
* experiences all the seasons of life.
Circles are a great way of being in a community that encourages growth while honouring who we are at the core that is our spiritual centre. Circles create an environment where participants can experience what it means to be in a living community.
Our time together includes classroom sessions to share circle theory and review resources. Mealtimes provide occasions for storytelling and laughter. A circle time each day provides a setting where we can honour our centre and share the gifts of our journey together.
